When everything you care about is ripped from you, where do you turn?
In Joanne Bischof’s debut novel, Be Still My Soul, Lonnie and Gideon traveled a rocky road to love and redemption. In Though My Heart Is Torn, the second novel in the Cadence of Grace series, Lonnie and Gideon are happily married and marveling over their baby, Jacob. A letter from home summons them back to Rocky Knob, where Gideon is confronted by his past–by his first wife, Cassie Allen. Except Cassie failed to file the papers to end their marriage. Gideon and Lonnie face the awful truth that their marriage is invalid and must be annulled. Lonnie must return to her home with her baby, but without her beloved husband, ,while Gideon must live with a woman he deeply resents, far from the woman and child he loves. Will they give in to grief and bitterness, or will they find strength and hope?
Have your tissues ready. This beautifully written story plays the heartstrings like a mandolin. Lonnie and Gideon are such wonderful characters, complex and realistic, growing and changing, and you can’t help but feel their every joy and heartache. To fully appreciate this novel, you do need to read the first book. You’ll be glad you read both. Deeply moving.
