Birthday Giveaways!

It (was) my birthday, and I can give things away if I want to!
I’ll start…one of my favorite birthday memories was my 22nd birthday when my husband and I were first dating. He took me to the Charthouse in Sausalito and to the San Francisco Symphony. Then he took me to a romantic spot overlooking the water and he told me he loved me for the first time…in Swedish. He wouldn’t tell me the translation for a full week! But I had a hunch.

My birthday falls exactly between Christmas and New Year’s, which is really terrible because most of my friends are out of town then, and it just sort of gets lost in the festive shuffle.

Last year, one of my friends, Jennifer, who had gone home for Christmas, mailed me the best present ever. She crocheted me a Gryiffindor scarf and sent it along with a letter from Professor McGonagal, welcoming me to Hogwarts. I just about died from geek overload…and mind, this was my 30th birthday, but some things just never get old. 🙂

I’d love to win a copy of your book! I wish I could buy them, but I’m a “mature” student on a budget. 🙂

My birthday is in the fall. Last year, hubby took me on our yearly trip to Gettysburg. This time he got us into an extremely fancy, Victorian bed & breakfast. There were a dozen pink roses in the room when we arrived. I felt like a princess. The food was just awesome. The whole trip was like a romantic dream.

My fondest memory was the year my mother held a surprise birthday party for me. She invited several of my friends and took us all to an arcade where she gave us each $10 to spend on games and toys. It was the last time she remembered my birthday.

My husband threw me a 50th birthday party this past August. He reserved two rooms at a resort so we would have plenty of bedrooms for our children and family. It was a three days of rest and relaxation with people I love. Plus he threw in a spa day with 3 of my closest friends. He had flowers delivered, decorated the pool/barbecue area, and did all the cooking!

On my 12th birthday, my Grama gave me my first camera, a one-ten with a pop-up flash. It was the coolest thing I’d ever received! My Grama is my hero and my favorite person alive (except my husband, lol), and that gift began my love affair with photography *heart*

My birthday is in the beginning of Sept.so as a child my birthday fell on the first day of school a few times. It usually was a great day and a good way to butter up the teachers and become a teachers pet. 🙂

My favorite birthday memory is the one when I was 8 years old. It was the first time spending it fully with my mom. My sister and brother were there too.

But to have all that legit love spill over to not just me and to the rest of my family was great.

    I love to read. Book.

    Happy Birthday to you!!!!

One of my favorite birthday memories is the surprise party my sister gave me when I was 8.

She took me to the store and when we got back to her house, she handed me a frozen *whole* chicken to take down to her freezer in the basement. As I was going down the basement stairs, she was right behind me to flip the switch for the basement lights.

When everyone waiting in her basement screamed “SURPRISE”, I jumped and tossed the frozen chicken over my head, nearly killing my sister!! lol I was so shocked and scared out of my wits that I couldn’t even eat.

I never got another surprise party after that and my sister never asked for help with her groceries again. 🙂

I would love to be entered for BOTH of your prizes, as I plan to give them (if I win) to my good friend for HER birthday, who adores reading and aprons!!

Happy belated birthday Sarah! For a moment I thought you shared it with the Prince of Wales (today 63 years old) but realized you meant last week hence ‘belated’ wishes.
My birthday falls on May 30th and since we tend not to celebrate on a large scale in Europe, I will have to say none of my birthdays are truly memorable. One tends to come to mind though: I turned 16 and to show me she was treating me hencefore as an adult, my Granny (who raised me) give me an ashtray, a pack of Marlboro (newly offered on the Coast that spring)and a small lighter…
I ‘puffed’ a few weeks…Happy to say today it did not take long for me to stop. But whilst it lasted, I fell ‘tall’ and very ‘proud’.
And it is that lovely appron I hope to win!
Thank you for the opportunity Sarah and best wishes for many happy returns!

I always seem to forget the part where I am to tell you ’email is phjones1954 at yahoo period com’
    Sorry about that!

Oh my goodness, what a range of memories. Some funny (Cafe Lily, yours totally cracked me up!), some sweet, some poignant.

I’ll post the winners of the giveaway tomorrow morning.
