Yesterday’s Tides by Roseanna M. White
In 1942, Evie Farrow helps run the family inn on Ocracoke Island, but island life has been disrupted by German U-boats sinking ships off the North Carolina coast. When British survivor Sterling Bertrand washes ashore with secrets galore – and claims to be seeking a German spy, Evie’s life is turned upside-down.
Back in 1914, Louisa Adair helps run the same inn, but questions about her heritage haunt her. Englishman Remington Culbreth spends the summer at the inn, and the two strike up a friendship transcending class and race – but can their blooming love survive the divisions between them?
As Evie and Sterling debate about trusting each other and as more secrets come to light, they begin to see threads reaching back in time. Could the answers to their questions stretch to the yesterdays just beyond their reach?
A gloriously beautiful tale! Yesterday’s Tides has delicious romance, fascinating history, heart-pounding mystery, and wrenching family drama. The secrets, the dilemmas, and the intriguing characters kept me eagerly reading, even while I was in the midst of moving! Roseanna White‘s writing swept me to the enchanting Ocracoke Island, and I didn’t want to leave. Please don’t miss this novel.
